Is the generative art market too concentrated at the top?
Let's run the numbers...
Hello from Valencia!
Just got here for the NFT Show Europe event and found a nice coffee shop to finish this market analysis…
Recently, I’ve had conversations with collectors and artists where they feel a big chunk of the volume is being concentrated towards a few collections at the moment (on Tezos in general). It is hard to know if there has been a change in how many artists/collections are being collected because we don’t have access to the data (or at least is very hard to pull in a decent amount of time), so I decided to set up a simple analysis using FxHash data to try to determine how concentrated is the volume over the past month.
I’ll compare the volume from the top 15 collections over the past 30 days and see what % of the total volume went to those collections.
We will review those top 15 collections and see who made the list (are those recently launched collections or old collections?)
Before we get started, it is important to notice that zancan had the best month ever in terms of highest individual pieces secondary sales on Tezos. I need to find time to update Top 8 All-Time Best Selling Tezos NFT Artists (a good read if you are interested in the previous highest sales ever).
